University of South Dakota School of Law has released their 2025 Law Review, which includes an article authored by Attorney Lee Schoenbeck entitled “The Office of South Dakota Senate President Pro Tempore”. The article walks through the political history and inside stories on how the senate leadership office has developed and evolved over the last 40 years. The article includes a section on some of the biggest political controversies the senate has faced during that time period, as well as the practical “how to” on performing the role as the head of the South Dakota Senate.
