A Northeast South Dakota couple had a nice camper that was damaged in the Derecho in May of 2022. Progressive took charge of the repair of the camper, and wouldn’t total it. The repair shop Progressive chose had the camper for over two years, without repairing and returning it to the insured! At that point the insureds came to Schoenbeck & Erickson for help.
In the course of a year’s litigation we were able to develop the evidence to show that Progressive had not properly handled the repair of the camper, and that Progressive had a system for their claims administration that works against the best interest of the insured.
On about exactly one year after we were hired, Schoenbeck & Erickson settled the matter with Progressive for a figure in excess of $700,000, and the insureds got to keep their camper.
