Attorney Lee Schoenbeck has an interesting “second job” that keeps him busy in the winter. From January through March, Lee has been serving in the state senate. He currently holds the position of President Pro Tempore, which is like the Chief Operating Officer for the Senate.
The National Conference of State Legislators recently published an article about Lee entitled: “Lee Schoenbeck: The South Dakota Senate’s Top Problem-Solver.” As an intern or a legislator, Lee has served in the state capitol for 16 sessions spread over the last 6 decades. 2024 will be his last winter in Pierre. “Every person has their time and season. It’s important to know when to move on and give others with new ideas the opportunity to lead”, Senator Schoenbeck said.
